The company Schneider that sponsored the air races had a deal at the air show that preceded it, a guy would jump out of a plane and freefall as low as he could and pull his chute at the last moment before hitting the ground.
Crazy shit.

One thing I would have loved to have seen in my lifetime, the Schneider Air Races.

he has a editorial in it every month and it fucking rules. this book is a collection of his writings over the years, go buy it.

His stuff is full of engineering and technical details and it way over my head alot of the time, but I always learn something...
