A late friend of mine worked in "The Skunk Works" at Lockheed from 1940 - 1975. He worked on the XFV-1 and most of the great planes that came out of the Skunk Works. He told me when they first tried to roll the XFV on the tail plane casters one or more wheels didn't pivot properly and it started to pull the tail fins apart. Fortunately they got it stopped before any damage was done. Cool friend. Lots of great "behinds the scenes stories" from the Skunk Works. I miss him.
