Ok, in a magazine i happened to be looking at, there is an article on doin some easy fab stuff. It's for exhaust and this is one of the pix with the article.
Ok, I look at this pic and I see a cast iron connecting rod welded (Mig it looks like) to a steel frame. Then with a plate welded to the other end. I DON'T CARE IF THIS IS A TEST STAND OR WHATEVER, but that setup is the most dangerous thing i have seen in a long time.
First off rigid mouting a small block chevy into a hot rod frame is dumb, but using a cast iron piece and welding it to steel is a RECIPE FOR FAILURE.
Now, i have rigged all kinds of shit in my life, and i was hoping that this wasn't a real car.
but low and behold, next page, this is a complete car.
Who ever decided that this was a good idea to put into print is fuckin crazy. Am I wrong?
I don't think so.

Ludicrous.

True, Dave, to put it into print and encourage others is almost more asinine than the actual fabrication...Anybody who has tried welding cast to steel knows there's no fusion with any structural integrity...
ReplyDeletesketch indeed.
