Ok more XR1200 stuff

Ok, you saw the scrambler conversion to the XR1200 i posted a while back right?
Coz here is another killer one!!!

neat XLCR style look, I like it!
Bertrand Dubet's design from Odyssey, it's not on their site yet but it will be soon...
that fairing rocks...
now all it really needs is a full fairing like Cal Rayborn's KR from 62! and maybe 18" and 19" 7 spokes!!!
ok i'll stop!
I like it!

About the XR

I have gotten a bunch of comments and a few emails regarding the XR1200 good and bad.
What I expected, to be honest.
Here is why i posted it.
I love motorcycles, period, and a guy who has riden more miles than anyone else i know, who has riden every style of bike for long distances, (Hi Aaron!) rode one and said it was like no harley he had ever riden. All positive. And of course it isn't a XR750, as much as we'd all like it to be.
But from what i have seen and heard its a decent starting point for a cool XL based bike.

Of course we will have to wait and see...

The Harley Davidson XR-1200

Well, it's almost here!

Contrary to what we all thought Harley Davidson is now taking pre orders for the first 750 XR-1200's!

The first ones shipping from the factory are the orange and black version above.
They are only taking 750 orders for them until Dec 15th, and if they havent taken 750 they will stop taking orders on that date either way

If you pre-order one now you can have it IN DECEMBER!!!

I'm happy that HD is finally realeasing something i actually like, mind you it needs some tweaking but for a factory bike it's pretty sweet!

and
it's cheaper than we all estimated it to be!

suggested MSRP of the orange one is $11,179
If you want one call Tracy at Harley Davidson of Westminster at 714.891.4300
but do it soon, coz as of the 15th you will have to wait until feb or march to take delivery of one.

But, if you want a silver or black one...
You have to wait
They will be shipping feb or march.

with the same MSRP, cept the california version of the black one will MSRP for $10,900
I can't wait to ride one...

Heres the neato-er part...

Holy GIANT gerotor style oil pump!!!!!

I bet that fucker can flow lots of oil, and i assume by the size of the return gears, it can suck it back out too!
neat

Small Clarification...

It's in the 2009 XL parts book.some neat shot on this bike, heres the external top end oil lines and oil cooler. Oil cooler? I hate oil coolers, this is the first standard production bike that has had one from HD. The Screamin Eagle versions of the big twins had em too... but those were "Special"

The HD xr1200

Rad, I would even consider buyin one, (if I could stomach spending that much on a sporty) especially after looking at the 2008 XL parts book and seeing how different it is, swingarm, oiling system, a ton of neat shit.

The guys at Biltwell took some neat spy photos of it in Corona, go to their blog and look at the post from July 5!

Do I think it's dumb that HD isn't releasing it here? yes
Do I have a theory that it has to do with the name and possibly Storz owning a copyright to that name (XR1200, for their street tracker style kit).
Yes, thats my theory, but hell, if thats the case call it something different. Hell buy the name from em! Harley just canned a ton of people, they should have cash to spend!

If it's not the case, it just figures, maybe it doesn't fit into the "Dark Custom" deal? They can't paint it flat black with gloss black stripes?
Guys who really want to ride don't have a stupid handshake?

Don't know, but damn the oiling system alone is pretty fuckin neat.
I would like to ride one, maybe I can con someone in sturgis into letting me ride one...
Probably not..
