someone commented on the coolness of contra-rotating props.

i agree. Take the Merlin engine out and drop a Rolls-Royce Griffon in your Mustang.

    Bennies of contra-rotating props-

    1. Elimination of prop side force (reactive torque)as well as vibration upon airframe.

    2. Higher efficiency with smaller installation dimensions.

    3. Looks cool as shit.

    That reminds me...the "Sentimental Journey" B-17 flew into town this week, but I didn't get a chance to go out and take pics. They always close up the tours before I get off work!
